Exact Duplicate Finder

It goes without saying that keeping duplicates on your machine is a waste of disk space. What you should do is remove the duplicates and free up some space. You can easily and quickly do so with the appropriately named application Exact Duplicate Finder, which is offered for free by InDeep Software. Just tell the application where to look, let it uncover the duplicates, and then decide what you want to do – you can remove the duplicates, copy them to any location you want, or send them to the Recycle Bin.

To start using Exact Duplicate Finder on your Windows-powered machine, you will have to download a very lightweight executable, extract its contents, and then run the executable. You will not have to install anything; just run the executable and you’re set. Of course, this makes the application portable; you can take it with you when you’re on the go.

The first things you will see on the application’s interface are two panels: to the left it lists your drives, to the right it lists the drives or folders selected for scanning. Once the scan completes, the interface presents a list of duplicates and a preview of any selected duplicate. Click the Remove button from the upper right hand corner and you will be presented with a prompt that allows you to choose what to do: delete, send to Recycle Bin, Move to Folder.

Using Exact Duplicate Finder is a very simple 3-step process:
Step 1 – tell the application where to look. Using the plus sign, you can add paths to the list; or you can select a drive/folder from the list to the left and click Add to add it to the paths list.
Step 2 – launch the search process. In very little time the application will scan the selected paths and it will present a list of results.
Step 3 – pick an action. The application presents three options: Delete duplicates (no backup); Send duplicates to Recycle Bin; Move to Folder.
